Aquatic macrophytes enter the replication phase

Plants collected from Lake Lugano (Ceresio) and Lake Como (Lario) have been transferred to dedicated replication tanks. In this controlled environment, asexual propagation has begun for the target species: Vallisneria spiralis, Myriophyllum spicatum, Potamogeton perfoliatus, Potamogeton lucens, along with an experimental cultivation of charophyte algae.

The replication tanks maintain optimal conditions — stable temperature, high water clarity, and a regulated light cycle — to promote plant growth. The development of specimens is continuously monitored to ensure the production of new individuals ready for reintroduction to the lakebeds.
