1. Environmental mapping and monitoring
Preliminary ecological analysis of the lakes
Underwater mapping of sites in Lake Como and Lake Lugano is planned to analyze the initial ecological conditions. Sediment and water samples will be taken to measure parameters such as carbon, nitrogen, DDT, PCB, oxygen, temperature and pH.

2. Development of biodegradable substrates
3D design for ecological guardians
Using 3D modeling and biodegradable materials, substrates are created that protect native seagrasses during rooting. The substrates integrate biochar and recycled materials, providing hydrodynamic stability and nutritional stimulation.

3. Plant replication in a tank
Controlled cultivation of native species
In dedicated tanks, native aquatic phanerogams collected in lake sites are cultivated. The agamic propagation process allows for controlled and continuous reproduction, ensuring the availability of plants for planting.

4. Implementation of pilot sites
Underwater Plant Installation
The plants grown in the substrates are manually placed in the lakebed by immersion. The "island" arrangement favors the natural colonization of the bottom, stimulating the reconstitution of the submerged forests.

5. LCA studies and scenario analysis
Accounting for "Blue" Carbon
Adapted methodologies are developed to calculate the organic carbon retained in sediments and submerged plants. The aim is to assess the potential climate impact and economic opportunities related to carbon credits.

6. Disclosure and awareness raising
Science communication and environmental education
The project results are shared through articles, webinars, public events and educational activities. Particular attention is paid to the involvement of students and citizens to promote a widespread ecological culture.
